Whilst going 2 the local shops, my friend & I were set upon by a gang of thugs (16thugs between 14&18yrs old). There was no reasoning with them, they saw reasoning as a weakness. Had there been just a few of them we would have slapped them around a bit & sent them on their way, but there was too many of them & they were alcohol/drug fuelled. We didn't want them to follow us home & we didn't want to get done for half killing the little s, so we got the shop keeper to call the police & we got them to drop us home. The only problem is the police never caught the instigators, & quite frackly I feel really angry that young men like this can attack women & men & get away with it. I am still wary to go walking my dog in my own area and everyday I am beginning to feel angered that these young men are not dealt with through the judicial system. I am fostering four 6-week old grey tiger kittens for the SPCA. Two of them are on antibiotics for cuts but I noticed that another one of them had a dime-sized cut under his ear when I took him home. He was wearing a tag around his neck and it was covering it up, but the next day, I noticed the cut was gone, and there was a hole where it had been. It was not bleeding, and nothing was oozing out, but it was pretty deep and it looked pretty clean around the edges. It looked like there was mucus at the bottom, and I couldn't see any worms. I put neosporin on the cut and wrapped it with gauze but the gauze couldn't cover it fully since it was at such a strange spot on his head. I am visiting the vet tomorrow, but I want to know what I should do now. When I took him home, he was snuggling a lot and just wanted to be by me, unlike the others. I'm not sure if this is just his personality, or if the cut was painful and it made him lethargic. He is playing and wrestling a lot more now with his brothers and sister and I don't want his wound to get infected or hurt. Please let me know what I should do! I've done some research and all I couldn't find anything that seemed to match my description. Thank you all soo much! :)

I know how you feel. I went through this with my daughter. Do you co-sleep? I wish I could give you a concrete answer but all I can say is it just sort of happened one day. I started putting her in a bed in my room when she was about 18 months and when she wasn't right next to me she started sleeping longer without looking to nurse. She would come into my bed half way through the night and I would nurse her for a couple of seconds and then stop. You could try nursing for a shorter period each time and then rocking or patting her back to sleep.

Why is it that seemingly all girls/women think they are destined and desire to have kids when it looks like an absolutely horrible decision on paper. If you have two kids and raise them to 18 your expected costs are slightly over $500,000 (plus a plethora of other restrictions on your life). If I offered a half million dollar check to many couples considering children under the stipulation that they promise not to do so; I guarantee that many people would take it. Not only this, but having kids ruins the mother's career and then the father is typically supposed to work full time so he can support three helpless dependents who do nothing for society. A father that can successfully support 4 people would be better off supporting just himself and driving a Ferrari. Regardless of anybody's thoughts on selfishness, the monetary loss is undeniable. Kids are a burden on everyone in society and only act as consumers in the grand scheme of things. So tell me parents, are there actually any LOGICAL reasons to have kids in today's society? I don't need any bullshit of how you think they're cute. Also why is it socially allowed for women to leave men because of differences on children preferences when it would be a societal shame and abnormality for a man to leave a woman because she wants kids? My best advice (I also have a 2 year old son) is to put him in a warm (not hot) bath tub. The warmth of the tub works better than a heating pad since it will provide all over comfort to his tummy and it's safer than a heating pad. You can also try putting a little baby oil on his tummy and giving his belly a little mage. This can relax his muscles and provide a level of comfort as well. My son has had multiple GI problems and I find that both these techniques work.

I really would NOT recommend it. Goldfish put out so much ammonia in their waste, the tetras, being as delicate as they are sometimes, will most likely die. Also, goldfish are cold water fish whereas tetras are tropical (72-82F)

Yes,believe it or not. I actually just watched a program on this on Discovery Health channel. A woman in India just gave birth to her first child at the age of 70, with the help of IVF. It also had several other women featured who gave birth in their late 50's and 60's. My baby crys after nuring for only 5 minutes...What could it be???

I have a 2 month old baby girl. every time shes hungry I nurse her as long as she wants, but about 3 out of every 5 feedings she will only eat for a few minutes and wiggle her head side to side and fuss and then cry. I try to change her diaper, make sure she is warm and give her a pacifyer, but she still will only suck like 2 or 3 times and start to cry. Its like im not making enough milk for her. she is a big eater, and I'm concerned shes not getting enough. She also rarely sleeps during the day and at night it takes alot of patience to get her to go to sleep. When she is tired, however, she fights it...She cries and doses of, cries, spits out her pacifier...and does this many times. Anyone have any advice???New mom here :)

Me and fiance...holiday woes!?

My fiance's dad and stepmom drove 14 hours to visit us over Thanksgiving. Their visit was last-minute and I have never even met these people before. My fiance also has close family who live not even 5 minutes away who he wanted to visit on Thanksgiving, then drive 45 minutes to see his mom and her family. He expected me to go with him to all of this. Meanwhile, my parents live 5 minutes away from us, and my grandparents are in town, and I want to spend time with them. Holidays stress me enough as it is, and now my fiance is upset that I am staying at my parents' house all day, and that he wasn't even invited over (my dad can't handle a lot of company right now, and I didn't want to add to his anxiety). I think he's being unfair and too demanding. His dad and stepmom will be staying with us for 3-4 days, so I feel I will have plenty of time to spend with them. My fiance said, "Well I guess we'll spend Thanksgiving together next year. Have a good time." Of course I want to spend Thanksgiving w/him, but I can't invite him to my parents' house and not invite his parents, and my dad just can't handle that many people. I am so beyond irritated....but am I in the wrong? I didn't even find out until today what his exact plans were for Thanksgiving.

The first thing you can do is to tell your pseudo friend that you do not appreciate her telling him about your personal business and that you will not trust her with your personal information again. Second, call your friends, leave messages. Ask them if you have done something to make them not want to talk to you. If they were your friends and accepted you for who you were, they would not have been swayed by one persons' opinions . Sometimes guys shy away from girls that have ex' issues. This could be a little of it. Guys dont' like drama, and don't want to be part of it. Call your friend who had the crush on you, and apologize for not telling him about your ex, but you really don't owe him an explanation. You don't have to explain your situation. Obviously you aren't hanging out with your ex anymore right? I think the main thing with these guys is that they're just giving you some time to get your stuff sorted out. Let them know that you miss them and ask them all to come over, or just a few at a time, for a bbq, or a football game, or something like that. A guy environment, and just hang out with them again. They will get over it, and you will have your friends back. If they still act as though they don't want anything to do with you, there are plenty of people out there. People go through stages where they are not able to find a social circle, and that is very lonely and frustrating, but you will find true friends. Now you know not to trust someone with your personal information. I have been through this, and now a group of my friends are acting as though they want nothing to do with me. I am married and have 2 kids, so it's not as though I don't have anyone to be around, but it is very frustrating. You just need to communicate with them. My first speeding ticket?

I live in Portland, Oregon and was recently pulled over just north of Grants P, Oregon on the I-5 for speeding. I had been coasting down a hill, and did not pay attention to how fast I was going. The cop said I was going 86 in a 65 zone! I said I was not aware of my speed, and that I normally do not speed, nor have I ever had a ticket in 9 years of driving (I am 27). He issued me a ticket for$472.00 and said I don't have to appear in court if I pay the ticket within a month. I'm confused on the ticket, as one column says I was PACED at 86 in a 65 zone. The next one however says the fine amount, and "speed in excess of 31+ mph". How does 86 correlate to 31mph over 65? I am confused if this is just categorization of the law & violations, or if this is an error on the officer's part. Should I just pay the fine and deal with a tainted record & insurance hikes, or drive 8 hrs roundtrip just to probably be named guilty and have to pay anyway? Gah, I am kicking myself for this one!!

Religious affiliation with college?

I applied to Campbell University and got accepted with a pretty decent scholarship. I visited today at their campus visitation. I love this school and it is definitely my top choice but two things are bothering me. Religious affiliation and Tuition. The tuition I won't include here because I will figure that out on my own but the Religion I will. I am primarily agnostic. I believe in God and am close to him however I do not practice any religion. I do not go to church and have rarely went in my lifetime. It was what I was raised by as my parents no longer attend church and didn't expect me to. However, CU is a southern baptist/Christian school. They require you to take a CU Worship cl 3 hours a week (I believe, not sure on the hours) and One elective of your desired religion. Wireless Internet Woes?

So at home we have wireless internet and I use it. I also take my computer to college and use the wireless internet there. But lately at home my computer never connects to our network properly. It says that it connects to the router with ''limited connectivity''. After doing some more digging I found that my computer sends packets to the router, but it's not recieving any packets. This used to happen every once in a while, and I would be able to reset the network card on my laptop to fix it, or sometimes unplug the router and allow it to boot back up. But lately I am unable to resolve this issue at all. I can plug in via ethernet and that works-but I don't have a cord within reach in my room (I may need to move one). I've also been 'stealing' signal from a neighbor that leaves there's unsecured. No other computer at home has this issue-only mine. I am quite computer saavy but this one is stumping me. Any suggestions???

I've got this horrible problem. My wife won't stand up to her mother or anyone in her family regarding her marriage or family. I can't leave the house without the fear of getting out somewhere and having to go to the bathroom, so I avoid most all outings, at all costs. Days before an upcoming event that is going to require I leave the house I stress over it so much I stay sick with the diarrhea the whole time and end up having to cancel because I'm stuck in the bathroom. My anxiety during these times if often unbearable, I can't sleep, eat, and all I can think about is how many ways I could end up embarring myself by leaving and actually getting sick, or my worst fear, actually messing myself. I should be in high school right now, but instead I'm home schooled because when this started I had to be pulled from school because I missed so much. I feel like my house is the only place I'm safe because I know my bathroom is right there if I need it. I've tried many times to just be a normal teenager, but every time I leave the house to go hang out with friends or anything I can't enjoy myself at all because I'm so anxious and I end up getting the diarrhea and having to rush home. As soon as I walk into any social setting my mind automatically starts figuring out an "escape plan", in case I get sick and need to leave quickly. I always check the bathrooms at every place I'm at to make sure there are secluded and have a loud fan or some sort of loud background noise. It is just completely crazy the things my mind cooks up. It's so embarring and I feel so alone in this world, because I don't know of anyone else who is like this. It's getting so bad to the point now where I won't even go to the doctors or dentists because I get so sick in anticipation. I am supposed to see a therapist weekly, but I only make it in about once a month, if that. He seems to think this all comes from an abusive childhood, and that I'm doing it to protect myself from letting anyone close to me. Just because a term is used for one animal or type of animal doesn't mean it can't be used for another - young rabbits, rats and others are also called kittens, for example, and young wolves, hyenas and others are also called cubs.

2000 Plymouth Neon that won't start?

My daughter has a Neon that started giving her problems stalling at stop lights. She came home from college and the temp got cold and car won't start. I've done the whole big bags on the metro deal. It's not great, but it's bearable. Sometimes it's just easier to pay for the cab ride. As far as hotels, the Omni near the zoo is great - the Holiday Inn Select in Alexandria is fantastic too... Old Town Alexandria is fantastic to stay, and it's connected to the metro too. Foggy Bottom and Georgetown are really nice too. If there are hotels around there, you should check that out... but the prices may be higher because they're near the emby and Georgetown and GWU. Okay, look at the bottom of the 'screen' on your monitor. There should be a triangle pointing right at first, and you touch that and the video starts running, then two short vertical lines appear where the triangle was. To the right of that there is a line, and on that line is a 'dot' that moves across as the video plays, but the line should be moving faster than the dot. If you can see that the line and the dot are moving together when the video starts and stops and skips stuff, just use your cursor to move the dot to the farthest left ... the line will keep moving and when you 'drop' the dot with your cursor, the video should play just fine.
