Omitting answers on the SATs as opposed to guessing?

Would I get a better score if I didn't answer the questions I would guess on, and just leave it blank? As opposed to answering them and possibly getting them incorrect. Because my method on the PSATs was to try and answer every single question in the allotted time, and not leave any blank, and this caused to score extremely low. I'm thinking that if I tried to get as many correct answers as I could, which would mean omitting some, I would get a better score.
