Baby won't stop crying.?

My baby brother won't stop crying, it's driving me mad, i've tried everything, pillows, pacifiers, toys, hitting him on the head with a few books. My parents are out of town and i can't sleep with his crying, please help I'm about to sell him to a local woman at my grocery store..I can't tolerate this any longer.
