Does the use of ethanol in Brazil to fuel automobiles, help their economy?

It has helped their economy tremendously. They are not at the mercy of arabs raising the price of oil on a whim like we are. We need to do the same thing here....starting with corn.....and then transitioning to cellulosic ethanol.
