Overclocking my computer?

It would not be wise to overclock your computer. It really can do damage. Manufacturers clock your system for optimum performance at the factory. You should add at least 1.5gb of ram (2 1gb chips) and that will show the noticeable improvement that you desire. A faster bus can also help.
